Security update 2008-008

Security Update 2008-008 is out, along with Mac OS X 10.5.6. That makes 5 security updates in 6 months. Apple continues to stick to a fairly regular schedule of security updates, which is a very good idea. The content of the update again doesn’t suggest that there has been any higher rate of real-world security issues.

The release is for both Tiger and Leopard, and includes very few fixes, another good sign. Notable is another significant fix for Flash Player, definitely one of the current weak links in the security chain. Also an important fix for anyone using Internet Sharing, a service we recommend against running wherever possible in the book. That’s pretty much it as far as fixes of interest. So this is a pretty short entry :)
