Mac OS X 10.5.4 and security update 2008-004

You may well know this by now, but Mac OS X 10.5.4 and security update 2008-004 (for Mac OS X 10.4 systems) are out, available through Software Update. Both fix a small number of seemingly niche and theoretical bugs. Neither fixes the significant, practical, actually-being-exploited bug with Apple Remote Desktop.

As you may have noticed, we’re a little bit behind here. You may also realize that this is the week that Apple’s new iPhone 3G ships, making it also the week that the new iPhone 2.0 software ships as well. Why are these facts relevant? The iPhone 2.0 software lets developers write applications that can run natively on the iPhone. As alluded to previously, we’ve been looking at the iPhone from the point of view of how we can add value as a software developer. We’ve made a lot of progress, and should be announcing something real soon now. As always, readers of this blog should get a sneak peek!
